EXTREMIST PLANNED BOMB ATTACK ON MOSQUE IN REVENGE FOR MANCHESTER VICTIM’S DEATH

A man is expected to be jailed after he pleaded guilty to planning a bomb attack on a south London mosque.

Steven Bishop, 41, is said to have been planning an attack on Baitful Futuh Mosque, in Morden, prior to his home being raided on October 29 last year.

Bishop, a supporter of right wing group Standing for Britain, admitted he wanted revenge for Manchester terror attack victim Saffie Rose Roussos, 8.

Steven Bishop has admitted planning a bomb attack on a mosque. He pleaded guilty to buying fireworks and possessing instructions on how to make an explosive at Kingston Crown Court today.

Bishop, from Thornton Heath, had previously denied one count of possession of an explosive substance with intent to endanger life or cause damage to property but changed his plea. He had previously admitted owning a handwritten note on how to make explosives.

The court heard Bishop has a history of mental health problems and a number of psychiatric reports had been prepared ahead of his trial. Judge Peter Lodder QC adjourned his sentencing until Wednesday and he was remanded in custody.

Bishop spoke only to confirm his identity and enter his guilty plea when he appeared in the dock.
